AgXRP: Agricultural Education in the Age of Automation

Agriculture combines genetics, engineering, climate science, and more to ensure global food security. Its interdisciplinary nature and real-world impact make it an ideal context to teach automation to the next generation.

What is AgXRP?

AgXRP is part of the XRP ecosystem, designed for precision agriculture. It uses 3D printed parts and PVC pipe to create a gantry-based XY platform for tending garden beds. A core tool head with a peristaltic pump waters plants and mounts sensors and tools to collect data or perform tasks.

As an open, customizable platform, AgXRP introduces students to automation in agriculture while making concepts in data science, biology, engineering, and business tangible and engaging.

Experiential Cloud Farms

AgXRP also supports remote farm management, enabling students to operate greenhouse robots as telemetry labs. They can plan every aspect of planting to harvest from anywhere in the world.

Through cloud farms, students collaborate with global partners, local farmers, and humanitarian efforts to design, optimize, and manage robotic farming systems.
